LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS
NO. 6 OF 2025
REDUCED NAVIGABLE DEPTH IN WHITEHAVEN HARBOUR ENTRANCE CHANNEL
Mariners are advised that the navigable depth within the entrance channel to Whitehaven Harbour has reduced due to recent sedimentation.
All vessels entering or leaving the Harbour should navigate with caution, particularly within the approach channel. Mariners are advised to ensure adequate under-keel clearance and, where possible, plan transit for suitable tidal conditions.
Mariners are further advised to always heed the guidance and instructions of the Lock Keepers. Lock Keepers can provide up-to-date local information on conditions and safe passage. Harbour users are also recommended to monitor and consult current tide and weather information prior to entry.
Further updates will be issued when surveys or dredging operations have taken place.
Should further information or clarity be required, contact Whitehaven Marina Office on 01946 692435, Whitehaven Sea Lock on 01946 694672 or on VHF Channel 12.
