Excitement is mounting as Whitehaven Harbour gets ready to welcome the Nao Santa María this week!
Following a recent schedule change, she's now due to arrive slightly earlier, expecting to be with us at high water around 11:30/11:45 on the morning of Tuesday 28th July 2026.
We understand she plans to welcome public on board from Wednesday 29th July to Monday 10th August and is expected to depart on the next suitable high tide after that (weather depending). More details about proposed departure will be available nearer the time.
The Nao Santa María is a full‑scale replica of one of the most iconic ships in the Age of Discovery. Step aboard to immerse yourself in the world of 15th Century exploration, discover how sailors lived at sea, learn about early navigation, and experience the craftsmanship behind this remarkable vessel.
It's suitable for families, history enthusiasts and anyone with a love for the sea - though please be aware that because the Nao Santa María is a replica of a historic ship, some areas may have limited accessibility.
Tickets can be booked online through the tall ship foundation's website, here. We also expect them to have a quayside stall selling tickets, similar to last year when they visited with the Galéon Andalucia.

In addition, thanks to Solway Firth Partnership for a grant through the Robin Rigg Community Fund to support WHC's 2026 Harbour Sessions programme, which will include a number of live music performances while the Santa Maria is in Whitehaven.
