LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS

NO. 2 OF 2026

TEMPORARY PERMITTED DESIGNATED FISH LANDING QUAY – WHITEHAVEN HARBOUR

Due to routine annual maintenance to the Whitehaven Sea Lock and flood defence system, which will result in full closure of the inner harbour to all vessel traffic, temporary permissions have been sought and approved by the Marine Management Organisation to allow the North Pier to become a temporary designated fish landing quay from 08:00 on Monday 30th March 2026 to 20:00 on Tuesday 31st March 2026.

All Designated Status conditions will apply. On completion of the Sea Lock maintenance works, this temporary arrangement will be removed.

The use of the North Pier and surrounding water space is done so strictly at users’ own risk, in all aspects. Users of the North Pier for this purpose are advised to be aware of North Pier Lighthouse and any maintenance work during this period.

Should further information or clarity be required, please contact Whitehaven Marina Office on 01946 692435, or Whitehaven Sea Lock on 01946 694672 or on VHF Channel 12.
