LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS

NO. 4 OF 2026

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SEA LOCK GATES, WHITEHAVEN HARBOUR

Notice is hereby given that Whitehaven Sea Lock will be closed to all traffic for 12 hours from 08:00 on Wednesday 20th May 2026 to carry out non-routine maintenance. During the closure, vessels will not be able to enter or leave the inner harbour.

As with previous closures, temporary permissions will be sought from the Marine Management Organisation to allow North Pier to become a designated fish landing quay for 12 hours only from 08:00 on Wednesday 20th May, during which all Designated Status conditions will apply. On completion of the Sea Lock maintenance works, this temporary arrangement will be removed. The use of North Pier and surrounding waterspace is done so strictly at users’ own risk, in all aspects.

No further notices will be issued on the above, due to the proposed relatively short-term closure, unless these should be deemed necessary.

If further information or clarity is required, please contact Whitehaven Marina Office on 01946 692435, or Whitehaven Sea Lock on 01946 694672 or on VHF Channel 12.
