The Nao Santa María has been drawing quite a crowd to Whitehaven Harbour since she arrived on Tuesday 28th July.
Sadly all good things must come to an end, and the crew have now confirmed they are scheduled to depart around 10:00 on the morning of Monday 10th August.
Their next port of call is Liverpool. Then they'll be back to Cumbria, this time visiting Barrow, so all is not lost if you miss seeing her in Whitehaven.
She's a stunning full‑scale replica of one of the most iconic ships in the Age of Discovery - the flagship used by Christopher Columbus during his 1492 voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.
We've loved having her in Whitehaven and seeing the queues of visitors waiting to board, hearing good reports from local vendors who have had an uplift in trade since she arrived, as well as enjoying the special Nao Santa Maria Harbour Sessions programme of live music organised by our own team, supported by Solway Firth Partnership through a grant from the Robin Rigg Community Fund.
